As with many of Blundstone's technological innovations, Blundstone led the way in developing inbuilt comfort. Blundstone revolutionised the comfort of safety footwear with the introduction of the patented Shock Protection System (SPS). This shock protection system was later further enhanced with the use of Poron® (SPS x~tra). More shock absorption in the insole means less shock to feet and joints and Poron® is the world's most advanced microcellular shock absorbing material.

Working hard on your feet all day can cause serious issues if you have poor footwear. It directly affects workplace fatigue and orthopedic problems in the lower back, legs and feet. These are significant occupational health concerns.

The Blundstone Brutes range of safety footwear introduces the next stage of the continuing development of shock protection systems - SPS Total. SPS Total includes a 50% larger insert of Poron in addition to the revolutionary Comfort Pod (patent pending). The Comfort Pod is an integral part of the soft polyurethane (PU) midsole, from under the ball of the foot to the heel. This ensures that the bridge of your foot is supported whether you walk, work or stand. The outer shape of the pod acts as a shield of armour against rough surfaces or sharp edges by dissipating the negative force away from your foot.

Blundstone continues to work in close colloboration with a range of foot health specialists in the development of its footwear.
