Blundstone collaborates with iconic winter festival Dark Mofo

For the third year running, Australian footwear brand Blundstone has partnered with Tasmania’s premier winter festival Dark Mofo. The longstanding partnership celebrates creativity, individuality and a sense of place that is intrinsic to both Blundstone and Dark Mofo.

Born in Tasmania, Blundstone’s philosophy, ‘Everywhere Life Takes Me’, will be featured throughout the Festival. Central to this is a piece of film in partnership with Dark Mofo’s brilliant headliner American musician, Sharon Van Etten. The film focuses on the most southern point of Australia and immerses the viewer in a vibrant and cultural community, while subtly weaving Blundstone into the overall content. The broad market appeal celebrates both the heritage of the two iconic Tasmanian brands and the people and consumers connected to the locality. The video featuring Sharon Van Etten will be shot during her time at Dark Mofo, with the content being published on Sharon’s, Dark Mofo’s and Blundstone-owned channels mid-way through the festival.

In addition, festival performers and employees will wear bespoke, money-can’t-buy Blundstone boots. Once only known as a work boot, the partnership communicates the evolution and relevance of the brand to the lifestyle and fashion market. The exclusive 2019 Dark Boot is a #510 that features a hand printed elastic gusset that incorporates Dark Mofo’s 2019 theme of the dark Forest, with four individual designs on the elastic gussets of each pair.

Blundstone is also partnering with VICE and i-D to showcase the festival goers who flock to Tasmania in droves for Dark Mofo. The partnership will document and explore the festival fashion, of which Blundstones are always a key footwear of choice. Covering the two main weekends of the festival, the reporters will visit key events and capture the unique and wonderful outfits that Dark Mofo is famous for inspiring.
